Special Guest Instructor: Rob Belushi

LMA is super stoked to have Rob on the roster and we can’t wait to get him down under to run some world-class workshops. In the meantime, you’ll have to settle for these low quality, but high value interviews we did over Skype.

Robert Belushi was born in Chicago, where he made his first stage appearance at The Second City, as the New Year’s Baby of 1981.

In college, Robert’s interest in acting became more developed and after graduation he continued his study at The Second City working as a host on the night staff. Besides telling drunk people to be quiet and explaining where the bathrooms were, Rob was able to watch comedic veterans on-stage every night.

Robert eventually trained at The Second City, the Improv Olympic and The School at Steppenwolf.  His first feature film role was in Riff Raff – a low-budget beach movie set in Chicago – for which he won a Best Supporting Actor Award at the Tenerife Film Festival (beating out William Hurt).

More recent work includes roles in The ChristiansSorority RowValentine’s DayCougars, INC., One Small Hitch, the CW pilot Cooper & Stone, and the latest “Movement” ad campaign from Hyundai.

Rob’s favorite acting moments have always been alongside his father, Jim and they will appear together in the August release of Thunderstruck where they play an intense high school basketball coaching duo.
