Chicago’s loss is Austraia’s gain!

Laugh-Masters Academy is super excited to announce the addition of Sophie Long to our roster of Australian based Instructors.

Sophie is an Performer, Writer, Director, Teacher and Coach in stand-up, sketch comedy, musical comedy, and storytelling. She has recently returned home from Chicago – the “birthplace of improv comedy” – and will begin teaching at LMA in February.

Sophie has studied in both in Sydney and Chicago and is a graduate of The Second City’s Conservatory program, iO’s improvisation program, and has trained with The Annoyance, UCB and The Neo-Futurists.

During her time in Chicago Sophie was a core member of Improvised Jane AustenreBound – Chicago’s first Dramatic Improv Troupe – and numerous independent troupes. Among other shows, she also performed solo musical sketch at the iO show Saturday/Saturday, directed by the incomparable Jason Chin.

Sophie is also a graduate of The Feminine Comique, Chicago where she developed her love of stand-up and she became a regular stand-up performer around Chicago.

During her time in Sydney she trained in TheatreSports with Impro Australia under the legendary Lyn Pierce was a core member of Scared Scriptless and Panda Smackdown, the first long form troupe in Sydney, as well many other ensembles. Sophie was also a member of the acapella rock choir Rocktapus, directed by Linda Calgaro.

Since her return to Australia Sophie has set up the story telling night Fabulous Monster with her comedy partner Hayley Dinnison. She also directed, performed in and provided additional material for the Sydney Fringe show Eat Through This, written by Hayley Dinnison.

Sophie is also also a trained Actor, having graduated from the Actor’s Centre, Australia (for theatre) and from Screenwise, Australia (for screen).
