LMA is thrilled to welcome Sketch Comedy legend Tony Starr to the roster. Tony has recently relocated to Sydney from L.A. and boy has he hit the ground running. In under a year he has already developed, co-wrote and performed in the Show Giddyup Garfunkle at the Sydney Fringe Festival and regularly performs around town. We’re extremely excited to have Tony on board teaching “Chicago Style” sketch comedy writing workshops and classes at Laugh-Masters Academy.

Tony is a professional writer and improvisor who specializes in both written and improvised sketch, having formally trained at the Conservatory at Second City, The Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) and with various coaches and teams around L.A. He is a graduate of both the “sketch for video” and “sketch for stage” programs at Second City, and he dove further into the world of “Chicago Style” long form by completing improvisation programs at both UCB and Second City.

Tony has spent many years in the L.A. sketch community, where he wrote for topical sketch shows such as; IO West’s Top Story Weekly and The Second City’s Second City This Week. In addition to writing and assisting in the development of the Second City Show Pretty in Pink Slips. Tony was a founding member of the video sketch team, Sketch Federation where he wore many hats as writer, director, producer, director of photography, video/sound editor and voice-over artist.  Sketch Federation’s work has been featured on Funny or Die, on The Second City Hollywood stage and the Chicago Comedy Festival.

Tony is also an accomplished long form improvisor who has performed extensively in L.A.’s indie improv scene with improv troops Yahting AccidentHandsome! WomanWall Fight, and the video sketch group Sketch Federation.
