Louise van der Post

I have an MA in politics which I will never use. Now as a Lecoq trained actor I write, perform and create character based sketch comedy and devised theatre. I trained at Circomedia Academy of Physical Theatre and Circus Arts in Bristol, and the London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA) under Thomas Prattki, former director of L’École Jacques Lecoq. It was at LISPA where I became passionate about human comedy (such as Commedia dell’Arte), mask work, the grotesque, bouffon and clown. Since graduating in 2009, I have performed in well known London theatres and received exceptional critical acclaim for my movement and aerial work as part of the ENO’s Pearl Fishers in 2010. I have a passion for improv and sketch comedy, mask performance, and Shakespeare, and after learning to improvise with some of the best teachers in the world (Second City, Toronto and iO), I now live in Australia where I have created a webseries, and a number of character sketches. I have also worked as a professional scuba diving instructor, am qualified to freedive to 20 metres, and am a practitioner of yoga and Thai boxing.  I am heavily influenced by my strict Thai Buddhist and NZ Catholic upbringing, making me one messed up kid, who has to meditate a lot.  I am able to switch off in the garden or deep down in the big blue where I never know what I will find.  Consequently, I fantasise about being a garden designer or underwater film maker, or (wild card) a show jumper.
